Stuyvesant East Preservation Action League
The Stuyvesant East Preservation Action League, or SEPAL, was formed in 2010 by a small group of residents of the eastern section of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, with the objective of obtaining Historic District designation for the area from New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission. The effort is actually an attempt to revive a plan for designation that was first developed in the 1970s, but which went unfulfilled during some difficult decades in the neighborhood.
